How to find out if routine is your friend or foe using Human Design

Human Design teaches us whether we’ve been created to thrive within the framework of ritual/routine (which, by the way, can look however we want that to look) or in the absence of it.

Most of us can probably relate to the structure imposed on us by the education system growing up, it’s so powerful that many of us carry on throughout life “believing” this is the groundwork for experiencing satisfaction around our levels of productivity. (And please, please, please don’t correlate your “worth” or “value” to how productive you are!! Please, just don’t do that. It’s not TRUE!)

We discover this aspect of our nature in #HumanDesign through what is called “variable” or, simply put, it’s the arrows that you can see on your chart. Take a look at the top, left-hand arrow:

If your arrow points to the right, then you are someone designed to thrive when you have the freedom to do things in an intuitive order everyday. It’s possible you’ve struggled to adhere to consistent routines in the past. If your arrow points this way and you feel that you “do better” with routine/consistency, I challenge you to explore whether that’s a conditioned belief imposed onto you by the many structures that govern our lives (especially if you have open head centres).

If it really doesn’t resonate, it’s possible your birth-time is incorrect (Arrow Variables which provide LOTS of detailed information require specific birth times to the minute in order to be accessed)

If your arrow points to the left, you benefit from daily routines and rituals and perform at your best when you have more consistency in your life.

This arrow of mine points to the left, yet I was born into an environment where inconsistency was present, so it became familiar to me. I also have an energy in my chart that has an inherent disdain for authority (I’m also a Manifestor and resent being told what to do and when). It’s taken me some time to find solace and safety in consistency and ritual - but it had to be created on my own terms in order to work for me. Up until recently, I was excellent at self-sabotaging by leaning into my conditioning around this. It’s a journey and I’m finding a balance between creating consistency in a way that works for me and leaving space to free-flow and be guided by my intuitive hits. 80-20 rule, y’all.

Now is the perfect time to really strip back the conditioning around what productivity looks like and begin leaning into a more intuitive relationship with routine/consistency and discover what is most supportive to us on an individual level.
